She is well-known for her Internet character Miranda Sings, uploading videos of the character on YouTube in addition to performing her solo comedy act in theatres all over the world, as well as performing in the Netflix original series called Haters Back Off (2016-2017) about the character. Ballinger created the comically talentless persona, egotistical and bizarre to mock the many YouTube videos that feature people who sing badly in hopes of breaking into show business and yet are ignorant of their inability to talent.Ballinger also has comedy and lifestyle videos on her own YouTube channel, as well as her Vlog channel, Colleen Vlogs. Together her YouTube channels have received more than 5 billion views. The Miranda Sings channel has more than 10 million subscribers and the persona is followed by over 13 million TikTok followers, and 6 million Instagram followers.
