Dolly-Parton

Born on Jan. 19 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn into a poor family that would eventually include 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to get away from the struggles of life through her vivid and broad imagination. Her songs were written before she knew how to read and write. When she was 8, she got her first electric guitar and began singing on an Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. Gold Band Records is a small label that is independent. As a student in high school, she made her name locally but dreamed about an even bigger stage. The day she graduated from high school, it was 1964. Dumb Blonde (1967) and Something Fishy (1968) were the first two albums to chart from Monument Records. Porter Wagoner had been looking for female performers for his show that was syndicated from the beginning. Parton became a member of Grand Ole Opry 1969 after contracting with RCA Records. However she left Wagoner's show in 1974 when her solo releases such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were out-charting their collaborations. Parton, after the split of their partnership with Wagoner was the one to write I Will Always Love You and made it to Number. #1 for the first time in 1974.
